Silver Spring is an urban community in Southern Maryland, bordering Northern Washington, DC. As of the 2000 census Silver Spring had a population of 76,540.
The area of Silver Spring itself consists two parts, the central area and the parts that lie outside of the general area. The Silver Spring Station provides access to the Metro Red Line and several commuter trains, the town is also located near the capitol beltway.
