About Melbourne
Area Information
Melbourne is the second-largest city in Brevard County, Florida. It's located on Florida's Space Coast (the area surrounding Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral) about 60 miles southeast of Orlando. Melbourne is largely located on the mainland, but also consists of a barrier island across the Indian River Lagoon.
Melbourne features a number of activities and attractions, from golf courses to historic sites. The city also hosts a number of events, including the Melbourne Arts Festival, Oktoberfest, and Friday Fest, a downtown street party with food, live music, a Kid Zone, and more.
Melbourne residents have easy access to West Melbourne, Palm Bay and Cape Canaveral. Most commuters in Melbourne drive, using U.S. Highways 1 and 92, I-95, State Road A1A and County Road 509; others take busses provided by Space Coast Area Transit. Air travelers can fly into Melbourne International Airport, located conveniently off I-95 and U.S. 192.
Renting in Melbourne, FL
Apartments for rent in Melbourne hover right around the national average. For those looking for easy access to great amenities, without the sky-high rents of some of the more popular tourist cities, Melbourne could be a great fit.
