Area Information

Mobile is a city located in Mobile County, Alabama. Located at the head of Mobile Bay and the north-central Gulf Coast, it offers a blend of French, Spanish and British heritage, as well as a uniquely-flavored lifestyle.

The city features beautiful waterways for enjoying kayaking and fishing, as well as the Mobile-Tensaw Delta ? the second-largest river delta in the U.S., encompassing more than 260,000.

Mobile's downtown is its main entertainment district. Anchored by the Lower Dauphin Street area (LoDa), there is a lively mix of music venues, restaurants and galleries. Downtown theaters host local opera, symphony, dance and playhouse companies. Come Mardi Gras, marching bands, floats and revelers fill the streets in celebration.

Many of Mobile's seven historic districts, including Oakleigh Garden and Ashland Place, feature plantation-style homes on streets lined with majestic oak trees. But the city also offers suburban areas with rolling hills, such as Spring Hill.

This cultural center of the Gulf Coast, Mobile is also home to the University of South Alabama, Spring Hill College and the University of Mobile.
