We are a couple of teachers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison who are subletting our beloved 2-bedroom apartment in downtown Madison during our sabbatical year. It is available from June 10, 2024, until August 20, 2025. Please note in advance that we are unable to sublet our apartment for short periods or rent out just one room. The apartment is very centrally located, at the corner of E Gilman St and N Butler St. It's a 10-minute walk to the Capitol, 10 minutes to State Street, 2 minutes to Pinkus McBride Market, and a 15-minute walk to the nearest supermarket (Festival). There is a nearby bus stop with lines going throughout the town, and James Madison Park is directly in front of our windows. Plenty of restaurants and bars are nearby. Several fitness studios are within a 5-7 minute walk. The apartment is fully furnished, located on the 2nd floor, spacious, very bright and cozy, quiet, and equipped with everything you may need for a great stay. It features one bedroom with a queen-size bed and another with a single bed, along with two working spaces/home offices. There is a new window air conditioner for one of the rooms and a ceiling fan in all rooms. It also boasts a nice view of the lake and James Madison Park. There is also a fire escape in one of the rooms, which we love to use as a small balcony on warm days. The kitchen is separate and has a table for 3 people. It includes a dishwasher, microwave, electric stove, electric kettle, toaster, mixer, rice cooker, and all necessary kitchen utensils. A hairdryer, steam iron, and vacuum cleaner are also available in the apartment. Coin-operated washers ($2) and dryers ($1.50) are located in the basement. We will, of course, move our belongings so you have all the space to yourself. The price includes rent, heat, water, electricity, and internet. Parking is possible for an additional price; we will need to check with our rental company as we don't drive. The security deposit is $1,000. You will sign an official contract with the company that owns the building, meaning if you encounter any issues, they will be there to assist you. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in the apartment (our rental company is strict about this). The neighbors are very quiet; we never hear any noise. The central heating works perfectly, making it very comfortable even on the coldest days. We have lived in this apartment for six years now and absolutely love it. The apartment looks as in the pictures, with some improvements such as two comfortable computer chairs, better working desks, more lamps, etc. We would love to find friendly subletters who will respect the apartment as much as we do.
