Anacostia in Washington, DC
Anacostia is a neighborhood in Washington DC located in the south eastern quadrant of the city. Anacostia is perhaps the most well-known southeast neighborhood due to its rich historical significance. It got its start as a main living area for those working at the Navy Yard and was incorporated in 1854. Anacostia gets its name from the river that runs along it, the Anacostia River.

Anacostia is home to parks and river walks with profound plans to revitalize the Anacostia Riverfront. With both Bolling Air Force Base and the Anacostia Naval Air Station within the neighborhood, there is a great military presence. Just north of Anacostia is the Washington Nationals' professional baseball stadium, as is Washington Navy Yard.
