About the building

For rent: a one bedroom lake-front condo on the north side of Chicago (in Rodger Park). The EXACT MOVE-IN DATE TO BE DETERMINED and has flexibility.… Some repairs and updates will be done after the current tenant moves out, and new pictures will be added as soon as possible, all of the photos in the listing are several years old now, but representive of the current situation. The property will be available for viewing starting in early September, please do not disturb the current tenants before then. This condo/apartment is just a few blocks north of Loyola University and a few blocks south of Evanston and Northwestern University. The Security deposit can be lowered with good credit and good references. This condo comes with a private fenced-in back-yard area with grass and picnic tables and an awesome view of the Lake. The courtyard has a security gate with phone service so you can "buzz in" friends, food delivery services, etc, using your phone. The bedroom window of this condo faces directly east (the lake), so you get to see the sunrise each morning from your bed!! (if you keep the curtains open). The living room is big (19' x 14' wide) and has a bay-window into the courtyard. The dining room is next to the living room. A short hallway leads to the bedroom on the east side and the bathroom on the west side. There are no closets in the bedroom but there are two closets in the short hall-way, one right next to the bedroom and one next to the bathroom. There is also a closet in the living room which is mostly filled with the washing machine and clothes dryer. The kitchen has a gas stove/oven and a fridge. The kitchen windows have the same awesome view of the lake as the bedroom. The back door gives direct access to the PRIVATE and fenced-in back-yard on the shore of the Lake! The private fenced in back-yard has barbecue grills and picnic tables (to be shared with other condo members). There is a storage locker in the basement, only a few steps from your kitchen/back door. A medium sized clothes washing machine and dryer are inside the unit. AND there is laundry room that has six larger washing machines and dryers, plus one giant dryer and one special/bigger washing machine for when you need to wash a lot of clothes and/or towels and/or bedding quickly. The building has a "bike room" to store your bike(s). There is a handy-man/custodian who will empty your personal trash can (just outside your back door) into the dumpster in the ally, clean hallways and carpeting, fix things, shovel snow off the sidewalks in the winter, etc. Grass and gardens are maintained by the building management and a Condo garden club. The condo association, with 100 units in the buildings, have negotiated a special lower "group rate" Cable TV and internet fee. Ask me to send you a PDF file from the internet provider with details, options, and costs. The Jarvis train station is only a short 6 minute (1/3 mile) walk away! Even closer (~ 100 yards) are many buses going up and down N. Sheridan Rd. - including many buses going to nearby shopping centers. The heating, water, and trash removal are included w/ rent. You may put an air-conditioner in the window in the summer if you want, but due to the nice cool breeze from the lake many living at the condo feel it is not needed - but it is up to you. This place is a rare gem! I lived there for about 10 years. Most of the neighbors have lived there for over 10 years. Several have been living there for over 30 years, and thus this is a rare opportunity. Dogs are NOT allowed due to condo association rules. Cats and fish are allowed. I'm not certain of the exact amount of space inside, the space size is determined by Zillow and I'm not sure where Zillow got their data. Possibly from tax records or building records. You can measure for yourself when you visit, and I can email you a floor-plan-drawing.
