As the shoe-making industry in Haverhill expanded in the mid-19th century, so did the mill district and by 1882 nearly every shoe factory was located within this new district. As Haverhill continues to evolve, this building is undergoing a transformation into 59 apartments and 3,500
square feet of commercial space on the ground level. The Ellis Factory building is particularly notable for its oversized black framed windows and warm brick hues.
