Amazing FURNISHED MID-CENTURY MODERN DECK house that's been cut into a slab of rock so it set into the landscape and overlooks a vernal pond that is protected by the Guilford Land Conservation Trust. It is very private. It was owned by an architect and administrator from Yale School of Art and they lived here for 30 years, and preserved all of the characteristics of the house that make it unique and peaceful. The layout flows quite nicely. It looks small from the outside but it is large, spacious, light-filled on inside. When we moved here, we did some work to open up the space on the lower level and make it airy and spacious by installing glass walls and polishing the concrete floors. We also updated all of the bathrooms.
Some say the house feels like a treehouse because there is a nice deck in the rear and when the trees have full foliage, the house really feels propped up in the middle of the woods. Great artist/writer's retreat or escape from the city. Close to Yale and Wesleyan University.
