Chevy Chase is a small residential town just outside of
Washington, DC in Southern Maryland. Several other smaller communities in Southern Maryland bear the same name as well. The population was just under 10,000 as of the 2000 Census. Chevy Chase is in close proximity the shopping district known as Friendship Heights which features a variety of upscale shops and larger shopping centers. The town itself consists primarily of more upscale suburban housing. Chevy Chase is a very good residential neighborhood for people looking to commute into D.C. by car.
