All utilities included plus pool maintenance and landscaping. Spa can be used for additional energy fee. Kitchen is dated not the best for big cooking families. Premium products included along with fully furnished premium bamboo eqyptian cotton satin silk and hotel collection style quality linens, beddings, beauty products, cleaning supplies and toiletries. All will be considered but ideal tenants are working a lot and want to entertain when not. They will have less cars, less people, less pets and less cooking on average days. Parties entertaining loud music is fine inside the residence only if respect is given to neighbors when parking and during travels from the property. Mild limitations may be put on energy consumption depending on use. Flexible and negotiable on all terms. Due diligence needed prior to booking please - for reservations made refunds will be considered only on individual basis but will not be guaranteed or likely offered for booking any kind of future dates.

About the building

Fully furnished month to month only for the summer season. 'Custom built and bespoke' mid century modern poolside retreat w/ major Eichler vibes and guaranteed fun for the summer. The home was designed specifically for this entirely private .7 acre creekside setting and lot that has narrow dimensions making for especially interesting views. The original owner sourced this location among the best lots and streets available in all of Walnut Creek when he built this in 1952. There's good reason why Hawthorne Drive is one of WC's most favored streets. Nearby so much open space, wildlife and nature but just a few minutes to Downtown. Also, being right beside the town of Alamo - you'll find many gorgeous quaint public parks, pools, walking & hiking trails which are all teeming w/ local wildlife and smiling faces. There's mostly just treetop vista views about as far as you can see from standing anywhere in the back yard. Expansive but also private as well. Huge south facing windows from a 10ft glass wall frame the private backyard views where a seasonal creek & bridge lead out towards a small pasture where you'll often find large families of deer resting and asleep beneath our trees. Each evening is marked with silence and the peaceful sounds of crickets breaking through the otherwise incredibly silent and still night skies. Enjoy brightly lit stars as the area isn't corrupted by any street lights or commercial nuisances. You'll find mostly large lots here with an R-20 designation - requiring a half acre lot size minimum of the neighboring homes originally built. The rear portion of the property ends at the base of Holly Hill which creates a secluded setting and scenery free from any neighboring windows at all or visible buildings. But the tall redwood fencing along both sides of the property add for additional privacy and offer a back yard that is fully fenced in. Many books available and large LG 4K OLED tv on swivel above fireplace and mantel. Super fast Sonic fiber optic internet with multiple satellites. Stand up desk available as well as larger art pieces and paintings. Mitsubishi mini splits in all rooms for fine adjustments to heat or AC as needed. Two bedrooms have ceiling fans, dual pane windows, custom closets and floor to ceiling mirrors found along many of the walls that keep you especially connected to the setting from many visible angles inside the home. Matching Italian made Teknostone non slip porcelain stone floors both inside and out and alongside tall heartwood fences and many privacy hedges of privet, silver sheen and columnar podocarpus. Two white wisterias wrap a wooden shade structure and both ends of the bocce court have seating and shade. Bistro perimeter lights along fences and the eaves plus additional landscape lighting is found on a timer and controlled from anywhere wirelessly via WiFi . Small tool shed and a fire pit with tons of seating is located next to the pool's 10ft deep end and (2) custom swim outs. Inside is a designated gym area with more 7 ft tall mirrors along the walls. Free weights available 5 lbs - 75 lbs with top quality inclinable bench, balance board, and many resistance exercise options. Storage and side yard shed has sports equipment, pool toys and floating devices. Crushed granite & river rock driveway available for 10+ cars during special events/entertaining. Quiet friendly and country like setting with mostly empty streets of cars - but lots of walking neighbors nearby. Enjoy an indoor outdoor lifestyle here while recognizing the nature of the setting and of dirt and the outdoors and to the environment. This is an older home built in a very expensive location that has been modified a bit for optimal enjoyment. An effort was made to keep the original charm and style of the home and its builder as much as was possible, he built two of these mid century style custom homes and stayed true to his formula on the second again. Building on a flat lot setting larger than a half acre and directly abutting water creek or seasonal stream. Both are single story pool properties and each surrounded by tons of trees that have grown well beyond if not hundreds of years beyond the 75 these homes have stood. Both have been largely kept in their original condition as well - pleas use extra caution with kids or while on the property nearby its large panels of single pane glass. The other version was sold recently and is on a similarly flat long and walkable street as this - nearby Scots Lane and La Rieu Park area - arguably another top 5 'most desirable' micro locations - Homes here though are a little less walkable with more hills and steep driveways. I find the Hawthorne location has a more hearty neighborhood vibe than the La Reiu area but Walnut Creek's most expensive homes that have sold are consistently found here the Walnut Heights area that is directly adjacent to downtown. So be mindful - this is not new construction. You are renting a fully furnished home that belongs to and is enjoyed most the year by its own owner. This is not a hotel. It's not a long term rental or investment property. It's only available seasonally so please book accordingly and with respect to the home and its owner's schedule. The setting is the main attraction here and it's all only a couple minutes (if you're driving) to any of the freeway on-ramps or the BART station. You will rarely if ever run into any traffic while driving though - the neighborhood back roads stay empty so town and the highways are quite close just seconds away. Walnut Heights is a beautiful quiet and peaceful area where caution and respect for neighbors is of special importance. This is only being offered as a fully furnished and month to month term - ideal tenants will have fewer cars parked outside and will remain respectful and mindful or other nearby residents and homes when commuting and directing their car lights and engines after dark and in midnight hours.
