Snuggle up on the cozy window seat with a mug of tea to scout for herons in the creek behind the house!
The Lucky Penny, originally built as a tiny house on wheels inspired by the vardos of the Romani people, is now an official ADU (accessory dwelling unit), a backyard cottage on a quiet lot on a tree-lined street.
Welcome to the Lucky Penny! The doorbell to the left is made from a copper bike bell. There's a little copper piece next to the door lever that says "Home, Sweet Home."
The porch is a sweet spot to sit on a sunny day. There are two small porch chairs that can be brought outside.
On a sunny day the stained glass effect of the window and the copper accents are illuminated!
Mason jars, mugs, and tea strainers, oh my!
A toaster oven and microwave are available for cooking, along with a 1-burner induction cooktop (with copper pots and pans, of course!)
The mini fridge has a separate freezer. Cuz ice cream!
The Lucky Penny is illuminated by a skylight, giant windows, and little wafer lights under the cabinets. A window seat pulls out over the countertop, transforming into a double bed.
The bed pulled out over the countertop in nighttime mode creates a cozy haven for sleep. Please note that pulling out the bed and climbing up into it requires a moderate level of strength, dexterity, and nimbleness.
The giant windows open onto the gardens. An apricot tree provides shade and dappled light for the window over the tansu while the cherry tree branches are just outside the arched window.
A tabletop can be added to the drawer and the stools pulled round to create a table for two for a meal or a cuppa!
The comfy chair can be pulled around and the tabletop added to the drawer to create a little workspace.
The comfy chair is a great place to cozy up with a blanket and a book!
The Japanese tansu storage cabinet includes 18 drawers and a cupboard, providing a place for everything, so everything can be in its place!
The pocket door separates the bathroom/entryway from the rest of the house. A storage loft above is a great place to tuck things away that aren't needed every day.
The dual flush toilet and wall mounted silent convection heater are two of the many water and energy saving features of The Lucky Penny.
There's a tiny tub, but, since the water heater is also tiny, think of it as a really deep shower pan!
The tiny shower has a low-flow shower head and basic toiletries are provided. Please note it's a 4-gallon water tank so showers are limited to 4-minutes. The pause button helps, but it's a quick shower!
The penny tile floor of the entryway/bathroom features hundreds of pennies - all of them heads up, of course - 'cuz this is the Lucky Penny after all!

About the building

Originally built as a tiny house on wheels, The Lucky Penny is now an official ADU (accessory dwelling unit), nestled between apricot and cherry trees. The kitchen has a hammered copper sink, an induction cooktop, a toaster oven, a mini fridge with separate freezer, and a microwave.
