The management of 811 N Tioga St. understands the needs of graduate students, including foreign students. Most residents of these apartments are Masters or PhD candidates, and often from outside the US. In recent years there have been residents from China, Taiwan, India, Vietnam, Nigeria, Germany, the UK, and maybe one or two other places, as well as many from the US.
This opening is only for someone serious about their studies. No parties. Quiet study and diligence are requirements.
The house currently hosts one male PhD candidate and a male carpenter/painter who manages all 6 apartments at the property. This listing is being posted by the building owner. Housemates sign a lease directly with the owner, so there is no 'joint and several' responsibility for housemates. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact us through this posting and will have the opportunity to discuss living arrangements with current housemates.
The kitchen in apartment 1 has two large fridges and modern facilities like a dishwasher and garbage disposal.
811 N. Tioga St. was built as a luxury apartment complex in 1903. Apartment 1 has classic hardwood flooring, high ceilings, and modern windows.
811 was renovated in 2009 with new electrical and plumbing. There is unlimited hot water on demand, which arrives nearly instantly at every faucet due to the recirculation pump, which also saves a lot of water and energy. Lighting is all LED for efficiency, and apartments are kept comfortable with each unit setting its own temperature. Management asks that no one leave windows open during the Winter.
The rent in this apartment is a great deal. However, please note that the building, while it has been renovated and an extra layer of ceiling has been added to apartment 1, is 120 years old. Some sound travels between floors. Fall Creek is a quiet, residential neighborhood with friendly neighbors who say hello as they pass in the street. There are many young children and retirees. Parking is on-street, and there is usually plenty of parking. You do have to move your car across the street each day in the winter.
No smoking is allowed, and dogs are not allowed.
