The neighborhood
About the building
Three-bedroom, two- bath craftsman house in Old East Dallas. Fully renovated and clean.… You can rent one bedroom, or two if you'd like your own office. You will have your own bathroom either way. Kitchen, pool, decks, living room, and dining room are all shared spaces.
It's 1650 square feet with a wrap-around front porch (and great swing and hammock in the front) and large back deck with a small pool and garden in the back. There are lots of plants (inside and out), and shady trees, too. There are tons of windows and light. Hardwood floors throughout and central air. The pool is great for Dallas summers (hot); and there is also a fireplace for Dallas winters (brrrrrr.) We have a pool cleaner and gardener, which we would just include in the price of the rent.
The place is 1 mile from Deep Ellum; 1 mile from both Greenville and Henderson where many great restaurants, bars and shops are; it's close to the freeway, but far enough where you don't hear traffic; about 3 miles from Downtown and basically within biking or a short drive anywhere in Dallas.
The neighborhood is called Junius Heights. It's also worth noting that an organic garden cafe (a true gem) is about a five-minute walk from us (in the opposite direction of the school). The food is grown in their own garden; they have beautiful patio and offer great brunch on the weekends. Across from the cafe is a small park where plenty of families with small kids hang out. We are also about a two-minute walk from Swiss Ave, which is a very popular street where local families take evening strolls and where joggers do their thing. We are also about a 5-minute bike ride from the Santa Fe trail which goes straight to White Rock Lake and the Arboretum (about a 10-15 min. bike ride once on the trail).
One room for $1,300 a month (includes pool service and gardening). The place is fully furnished. Can remove furniture in the bedrooms if you have your own. Lots of close and storage space.
The place will be available as early as August 4th, but we can also be flexible on a move in date if you are interested.
I'm a professor (male) who prefers someone (male or female) who is both quiet and clean (and kind!). I do travel tons since my son lives in Europe so I would like to find someone who can help with watering the plants indoors and out while I'm out of town. In fact, I will be gone August 15-Jan.15 so the place would be all yours! Most months I'm out of town at least one full week in California. I'm gone most summers and all academic breaks.
NOTE: The house is occupied at the moment, but able to show most evenings. I'm willing to share more pictures or talk on phone, too.
