708 Wilshire Pl

Welcome to 708 Wilshire Place, which was renovated in early 2026. The contractors will return in late 2026 to paint the newly-constructed stairs leading down from the semi-circular driveway after the freshly-cut wood acclimates to the environment.
The new azaleas poking out of the pine straw will take time to mature, but they will blossom red and white (or so the landscaper says!).
The solar caps on the new stairs light up for several hours after dusk.
These light bulbs are standard adjustable LEDs but, if you'd like to install bulbs that come on automatically at dusk, that is also possible.
You can imagine yourself having morning coffee on the front porch.
Now let's go inside in the house. Give me a minute and I'll turn the lights on.
To the left, on the east side of the room, you see a gas log fireplace, book shelves, and space for a living or TV area.
To the right, on the west side of the room, you see space for a dining table with the kitchen in the background.
Now let's go out the screened sliding-glass door on the south side of the house and look at the large rear deck, which spans the entire length of the house.
To the left, you can see the woods and the newly-renovated stairs down to the back yard. The newly-constructed stairs will be stained after the wood acclimates to the environment.
Through the woods you can see Wilshire Trails Park.
The house is situated on 0.39 acres of property and the back yard is surrounded by a fence.
To the right, you see the long expanse of the back deck.
Let's turn the lights on so you can imagine what the deck would look like in the evening while you're enjoying your sweet tea.
Back inside, the kitchen features a double-basin sink with an extendable faucet, a dishwasher, an electric range, a microwave and a refrigerator/freezer.
The refrigerator is French door style, with double doors and a bottom freezer.
The kitchen also features a lot of storage space under the large granite countertop.
Behind the bar stools you'll find more cabinets for storing things. Let's look at the half-bathroom in the corner now.
The newly-renovated bathroom features a new vanity and toilet with coordinated matte black fixtures.
Now let's go upstairs to the second floor.
On the east side of the second floor, the master bedroom features a closet and a window on each of the north and south walls.
Each closet, such as this one on the south wall, features a clothes rod and shelves. Now let's look at the master bathroom.
This is renovation project manager Nathan proudly taking a photo of his team's work in the master bathroom, which features a 72" double-sink vanity, toilet, LVT flooring and a walk-in shower.
Nathan's team did an amazing job on the bathroom--but he still needs to add that missing light bulb! :-)
Municipal water supply ensures that the water pressure is strong in the showers and throughout the house.
The master bathroom also features plenty of storage space.
In the middle of the second floor, we pass the laundry room in the hall.
Now let's look at the guest bedroom on the west side of the second floor.
The guest bedroom could also serve as a child's bedroom or an office.
It features a walk-in closet.
The walk-in closet also has a storage platform below a window.
Next to the guest bedroom, the guest bathroom features a shower tub, a new toilet...
...and a new vanity.
Now let's go back downstairs to the finished half-basement, which is uniquely lined with cedar wood panels just like the exterior of the house.
At the base of the stairs is the basement bathroom.
The basement bathroom features the original cedar vanity with a new vanity top, toilet, and LVT flooring...
...as well as a shower.
To the left of the bathroom is a storage or equipment room.
The main room in the basement features a sliding glass door and a window.
Under the basement stairs is a storage space.
The basement bedroom features a closet...
...and a window.
Now let's go out the sliding glass door to the back yard.
You can imagine yourself working your grill down here under the rear deck.
And here's the full back side of the house. It will take some time for the new cedar panels on the sides of the house to weather to the same degree as the original ones.
By the way, in May 2026, we installed a top-of-the-line Carrier Infinity HVAC system, which will help to keep your heating and cooling costs in check and which you can monitor and control via this wall panel and/or a phone app.
Also, you'll never have to worry about running out of hot water because the water heater is a gas-powered tankless, or on-demand, model by Navien that will keep the temperature at whatever level you set it.
That's the end of our tour. We hope you will consider making 708 Wilshire Place your oasis in the woods in the center of Gainesville.

About the building

An extraordinary natural oasis in the center of Gainesville! This cedar-sided, three-story, 1979-build, single-family home is nestled within a nearly half-acre wooded lot on a hill above Wilshire Trails Park. It's located within walking distance of Gainesville High School, Centennial Arts Academy (elementary school), Lake Lanier, Longwood Park and its public tennis courts, Brenau University, and Gainesville's Downtown Square. The home's interior is newly renovated (2026) and features faux hardwood and luxury vinyl flooring throughout 10 rooms, including three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. That includes 1,280 square feet on the first and second floors and 640 square feet in the south-facing, finished half-basement, the walls of which are uniquely cedar-sided like the external siding on the house. The large rear deck, which spans the full length of the house, looks out on a wooded back yard that is surrounded by a fence. The first floor features a living area with a gas-log fireplace, a dining area, a half-bathroom, and a kitchen with an electric range, a microwave, a French-door refrigerator/freezer, and a dishwasher. On the second floor, the master bedroom has an attached bathroom with a walk-in shower and the guest or child's bedroom is adjacent to its own bathroom containing a tub-shower combo. The washer and dryer are conveniently located off the hallway between the master and guest bedrooms. The Navien gas-powered water heater is tankless (on-demand), providing less expensive and endless hot water for the entire family. The newly-installed (May 2026), top-of-the-line Carrier Infinity HVAC system also helps to keep your fuel and energy expenses in check while allowing you to adjust the room temperature through a wall panel and/or phone app. Other people drive tens of miles just to visit the relaxing wooded parks and other recreational attractions that are located right outside your new home--a true gem of nature located in the heart of the city of Gainesville.
