One line emails such as "is it still available?" will be deleted. I own a sweet little three bedroom house, just a mile from campus, and four blocks from downtown urbana. There are two bedrooms downstairs, with a separate apartment upstairs, with a separate bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room, accessible by an outdoor staircase and private entrance. The apartment for rent (the upstairs) is a special space, built with a lot of thought and care. Once an attic, it's now one of the most beautiful spaces in town, complete with a large living room/kitchen, a spacious bathroom and a cozy bedroom. The space is flooded with natural light from two large skylights and multiple windows, and lots of small details will please and inspire you. For example, the spacious walk-in shower is tiled in a beautiful blue and white mosaic, and then there's the largest bathtub you've ever seen, as well. The bed is the most comfortable you've ever tried, made of natural latex, instead of petroleum based memory foam. Cooking on an induction cooktop is faster and more efficient than stoves you used in the past... and so on. The space has all the comforts you'll need, including all necessary furniture, pots, pans, dishes and silverware, ceiling fans, air conditioning and beautifully silent radiator heat for the winter. This is an entirely private space, with a separate outdoor staircase to enter and exit. It is the upstairs portion of a house, but it is not a shared rental. The laundry room and dishwasher are available downstairs, as is the back and front yard and an ample deck, which are shared. A retired theatre composer lives downstairs, in the main space. There is also an additional back building, which may be available for use as an office, TV room, etc. We're looking for someone that will love and appreciate this space, and treat it with care. You won't be renting from a rental agency, but rather from someone that built this space by hand, with all their heart. Artists and intellectuals are encouraged; people who party often and/or drink to excess are not welcome to apply. The space is available to rent starting July 1st, 2026. Year long lease minimum, with the option to renew.
