The neighborhood

About the building

Due to unexpected circumstances, I unfortunately am looking for someone to relet my beautiful apartment. Managed by Oak Park Apartments, this 1 bed, 1 bath unit is open, bright, and has a nice amount of space for one person or a couple. The living room could comfortably fit a couch, television, and desk / table. The bedroom is also large and could fit a queen or king-sized bed and chair or desk. The bedroom features a large closet and there is an additional closet near the back door for coats and/or other storage. Additionally, there is a storage locker that can be secured in the basement. I've found that Oak Park Apartments manages their units well (this was the cleanest apartment I have ever moved into) and keeps the building clean and safe. The unit is very quiet - the most noise I hear from my neighbors is the tenants walking sometimes upstairs. The neighborhood is a big selling point - I love walking my dog around the neighborhood and admiring all of the beautiful houses and gardens. It is also right next to Rush Hospital, so this would be a great location for anyone who works there. The building is nearby the 290 expressway and due to being so close to Harlem, you can easily access restaurants and businesses in Oak Park, Forest Park, and Berwyn/Riverside. Some additional information: This apartment is pet friendly, with a monthly fee of $25. There is radiator heat and a build-in air conditioner that is installed in the living area. On recent warmer days, this A/C has been sufficient at cooling the entire unit, including the bedroom. There is a nice ceiling fan in the bedroom as well. The kitchen has a decent amount of counter space and I have enjoyed cooking in it. There is a washer/dryer available in the basement for a fee. This is a smoke-free building. Parking is available for an additional $90/month (you are assigned a spot located in the back of the building off of Harlem). Heat/gas is included in the rent. Application process: After you view the apartment and decide you want to apply, I will provide you with a link to do so. I will inform Oak Park Apartments that you have applied so that they can process your application as soon as possible. There is a $50 application fee and then a $300 hold fee when/if you are approved (the hold fee will be credited back to your move-in fee). Application requirements: -Strong credit history (625 minimum credit score required) -No collections (outside of student loans and medical bills) that exceed $500 -Gross monthly income form all legal sources must be 3x the rent (i.e. for this unit, a gross monthly income of $4605 is required) -Combined income will be considered for roommates / partners -No cosigners are allowed -Ability to provide documented verification of all legal sources of income required (e.g. employment, SSI, unemployment insurance, child support or alimony, housing choice voucher, etc.) This can be verified through a current bank statement showing enough to cover move-in costs along with another financial document such as a pay stub, award letter, job offer letter for future job, etc. -Ability to verify current residence -No outstanding balances with any current or previous rental housing provider -Proof of identification (e.g. birth certificate, passport, driver's license, naturalization certificate, green card, etc.) Though I am listing this unit as available 8/1, I am open to moving out sooner. I am also open to showing the apartment outside of the times that are provided at this time.
