This is an ad for DO NOT RENT AT 5322 NORTH SAWYER. I am the immediate previous tenant. The member of the owning family who manages these apartments is a liar and a misogynist. He's good at faking polite but it is an act. When he's not blatantly lying, he still manages to communicate poorly - not directly or clearly, and with no regard for when that causes miscommunications. He will insert himself in an ineffective and biased way to mediate if there are any conflicts with the other tenants, and you'll learn quickly not to even consider raising any gripes with/about his family who lives in the first-floor unit. They are a cute elderly couple but the vibe is that you are lucky to be a guest on their property and should tip-toe accordingly. Which brings us to the next issue - living here is not at all a "super private" experience as the listing says. The elderly couple is always outside gardening, and making passing comments about your vegetable intake, laundry frequency, or relationship, that seem a lil' intrusive but harmless, until you realize they're also sharing observations and unvoiced complaints with the property manager relative. The cameras all over the property would rival any surveillance state - great if you enjoy the owner's family watching you (and they do) as you come, go, check your mail, take out your trash, do your laundry, and walk up the back stairs. And, you will hear everything from the upstairs apartment - literally, as if you are in their living room - which implies the owner's relatives downstairs may hear the same from you. Don't be lured by the pics, and don't sacrifice your sanity for a few extra square feet or a few bucks less on the rent. Look elsewhere. FWIW, the neighbors in the actual 5320 North Sawyer seem lovely, and I have no reason to dissuade anyone from renting there. Except for proximity to 5322.
