We have two 3rd floor bedrooms available for rent in a large, historic North Portland home with a calm, adult atmosphere.… This room is ideal for a grad student or young professional who wants a quiet place to land near the University of Portland, rather than a party house. The "chimney room" ($710) has brick accents and an unfinished storage area under the eaves of the room. This room accommodates one person only. The "Big Room" ($800) is a large 16x16 sq. ft with a finished storage space and can accommodate one or two people. Double occupancy is $1100/mo. There is a small "dormer" room between these bedrooms that can be rented as an extra office space for a small additional charge but cannot be used as a bedroom. Both rooms have original shiplap siding and share a half bath on the same floor. Each has its own Mini-split for heating and air conditioning, so you can control the temperature in your personal space. The home is older and not fully insulated, so you will still notice some seasonal warmth in summer and coolness in winter. Fully furnished common space on the first floor includes a large kitchen with essential cookware, dishes, and utensils, a dining area, two furnished living rooms, in house laundry, and one full bathroom. The second floor has additional bedrooms, office space, and a second full bathroom with a separate shower and original claw foot tub. The 3rd floor bedrooms use these full bathrooms on the lower levels and have the added convenience of a half bath on the 3rd floor. The bedrooms themselves are unfurnished, so you can bring your own bed and furniture to set up the space the way you like. The house sits in North Portland's University Park/Portsmouth area, a residential neighborhood near the University of Portland with tree lined streets, nearby parks, and local restaurants and coffee shops along Lombard Street. It's an especially good fit for people who spend time at UP or work nearby and want walkable access to campus area amenities without living in an apartment complex. An on site owner lives in the home and has a friendly dog who shares the common areas. Tenants are not allowed to have their own pets, so you should be comfortable living with a dog but not expect to bring additional animals into the home. You'll be sharing the home with other respectful adults, often grad students from the University of Portland and early career professionals. The household values cleanliness, reasonable quiet hours, and straightforward but respectful communication. This is not a party house and tends to work best for people who are focused on school or work and want a comfortable, stable home base.
