The house is a block away from Salado Creek (in the 75 years of this house's history that I know, it has never flooded.) In recent years, the city has installed walking/fitness trails along Salado Creek, making it a pleasant place to exercise and enjoy nature. John James Park, an 89 acre park gifted by the federal government, is about 4 blocks away. It has soccer and football fields, playgrounds, and fitness trails. There is a small shopping center a block in the other direction. Its stores include an Asian food store, a Mexican restaurant, an Asian restaurant, and nearby is a Starbucks and a fast-food chicken restaurant. Other stores located within a mile to 1.5 miles are HEB, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Goodwill, Discount Tire, and many more.
