About the building

Hello prospective roommates! We have a room opening in our 3 bedroom, 2 bath house located just east of Mission Valley in the Birdland neighborhood. The room is available starting 6/25. The house will be fully furnished upon move-in, with the exception of your bedroom. It is in a great central location, just minutes from Mission Valley, the 163, and a nearby park. The lease is month-to-month for flexibility, but we are hoping to find someone who is looking for a longer-term living situation, ideally a year or more. About the house: The house is spacious, updated, comfortable, and has a great layout for roommates. It includes a large kitchen, two full-sized living rooms, a dining area, central A/C, a backyard, and a large garage with plenty of storage. There is also a full-sized washer and dryer in the garage, plenty of street parking, and occasional driveway access when needed for unloading groceries, moving things in, etc. We recently moved in and are still in the process of furnishing one of the living rooms and improving the backyard. I have included renderings of what those spaces will look like once finished. Although the house will be fully furnished, if you have any furniture or decor you would like to contribute, Im sure we can work something out :) About us: We are two friends in our 30s, both male. The vibe around the house is laid back, respectful, clean, and easygoing. We both work most days, though neither of us has a strict 9 to 5 schedule. In general, we tend to go to bed and wake up on the earlier side, usually around 10 or 11 p.m. and up around 8 a.m. I own a rental business, so my schedule is sporadic and I am gone quite a bit. Christian works at a restaurant. We are both outdoorsy and into a lot of hobbies. Some of mine include snowboarding, surfing, paddle boarding, camping, climbing, going to the gym, scuba diving, and reading. Our politics are liberal although we are not actively involved in anything political and don't talk politics much. We are social and may occasionally have friends over, but this is definitely not a party house and we want to keep it that way. We value a home that feels calm, clean, comfortable, and peaceful. We want the house to feel like a sanctuary when we are home. We do not have pets and do not plan on getting any. About the room: The room is approximately 12.5 x 10 and is large enough for a queen bed plus additional furniture. It has an overhead fan, good natural light, a large closet, and additional storage available in the hallway. The bathroom would be shared with Christian and includes a shower and tub. Parking would be street parking, which is usually easy and plentiful. You can also occasionally use the driveway when needed for unloading. About you: We are looking for someone mature, respectful, clean, and easy to live with. Someone who values a relaxed home environment, communicates well, and shares basic house responsibilities like dishes, cleaning, and keeping common areas tidy. It would be great to live with someone who has some shared interests or hobbies, but that's certainly not a requirement. The most important thing is finding someone who is considerate, responsible, and on a generally similar lifestyle rhythm. Since we tend to keep earlier hours, this would probably be the best fit for someone who is not regularly up late making noise. No couples and no pets, please. Rent and utilities: Rent is $1,350 per month, plus a share of utilities. Utilities typically average around $100 to $150 per month and include gas, electric, water, sewer, trash, and internet.
