The handsome Queen Anne style home was built circa 1889 by William A. and Elizabeth "Laddie" Stewart. William was the son of a prominent early Puyallup pioneer. It has a clipped, front-facing gable roof. It is the third home listed on the Washington Heritage Register in Puyallup. The home was purchased in 1906 by Thomas and Sarah Brew. Thomas founded Brew Manufacturing, which made bee hives and berry crates. The two huge true/sweet American chestnut trees on the parking strip were gifts to the Stewarts by Ezra Meeker. At dawn on fall mornings, eagerly foragers await the falling husks.
