About the building
When Miss S.E.… Vail built her house in 1915, she used a blend of Craftsman and late Victorian styles - with high ceilings downstairs, ornamental moldings, beadboard and craftsman design elements in the porch. The house has been through many changes, and after a fire and years of neglect, was close to lost and sold at a tax sale. It was completely renovated in 2016.
The house has two, two bedroom units, each very different and both lovely.
The downstairs apartment is available September 1. It is entered through a lattice pergola from the picket fenced yard and brick patio at the rear. The kitchen includes sunroom for eating, stainless steel appliances, Brazilian granite countertops and ample room for entertaining. The kitchen opens to a living room with 10 foot ceilings, transom window cased doorway and a washer dryer hidden in a niche. There is a powder room off the hallway, and then two large bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom. The entire apartment has hardwood floors, with tiled baths. Over $7000 was spent on insulation alone, and great efforts were made on sound insulation between the units.
Original doors and windows were retained, all systems are entirely new, including of course central HVAC and a high efficiency gas furnace. There is parking for one car in the back, plus a shared dog run. Strictly non smoking.
