Looking at the house from Arroyo Seco. It's the highest one you can't quite see in this photo. It's hidden by the trees.
Owner designed and built Super Size GroBox in front of the house. Would you believe, it has a Queen size waterbed underneath it? And you don't have to bend way over to garden. Water harvesting from the roof is delivered by timer and tank.
If you wish, the compost goes in the milk crates with the worms in the GroBox. Too easy!
You will have fresh produce all winter from the GroBox, if you maintain it! And, it mostly waters itself, like a terrarium!

The home is charming, well-appointed, and beautifully decorated. Both beds are extremely comfortable, and the pull-out couch is great for extra guests. The fireplace and provided firewood made for countless cozy evenings after watching the sun set in a fiery blaze over the hills and buttes of the Abiquiu area. It is clear that this house is a well-loved home and not just a normal rental; we feel honored and blessed to have had the privilege of living there. As for the area, it can't be beat! Easy access to skiing, hiking trails (including 2 hiking trails right in the neighborhood!), and everything else Taos has to offer. The little town of Arroyo Seco itself offers fine dining, cafes, a yoga studio, local shops, and even a small organic grocery store. The house does have a few quirks which, for us, only added to the charm. We learned the ins and outs of the snowblower, and took care to monitor the septic and propane systems. All easy to learn. Be advised that the dirt access road requires 4x4. However, the additional parking pad is an easy alternative. We did not have any issues. As far as the landlord goes, we became good friends with Ike and Carole during our stay. While we are sad that we won't be able to return next winter, we are eager to come back someday. We hope this review persuades others to sign up for the same wonderful experience that we had. Enjoy!" ~ Emily & George
