Apply now to see our remodeled century-old six bedroom farm home. It is just a little over a mile from downtown Chelsea (near I-94), but it feels like you are in the country. I taught at the University of Michigan and it took me longer to park and get to class than to get to campus from this location. This is a great house to be shared by graduate students!! You will find this well-maintained home on a landscaped acre with only one close neighbor. Wooded state land borders the back of the property with farm fields on the other side. It is on a paved road. I moved to Hawaii 31 years ago and have been renting this home ever since. I just cannot seem to part with this house. It has been an awesome home for many families, young professionals and graduate students who want country living close to town with the excellence of Chelsea schools and the closeness to the University. I found this to be the perfect house in which to raise my kids and found Chelsea to be a wonderful community in which to live! I invite you to give it a try! My property manager lives nearby and has taken care of the property for three decades! We have been blessed with wonderful tenants and are hoping to find just the right people to once again enjoy our home. Recent tenants have been three PhD students in Pharmacy. Prior to that, I had four young engineers who knew each other from graduate school at MSU. Just starting out, they decided to live together. It worked our beautifully. This home has been well taken care of. It has a relatively new stove, washing machine and dishwasher and a new efficient gas furnace a couple years ago. Many of our tenants have asked to buy this house. They say they have loved living here; that is feels like "home". They loved the Chelsea community and schools, as well as having close access to major highways while still having the country vibe. If you are still interested after viewing the house, I will do a video interview with all prospective residents prior to sending a lease. Aloha! I moved to Hawaii after having raised my kids in this house. Everyone who has rented the house over the last 32 years has loved being there!! I have a wonderful property manager who fixes anything and everything. He has worked at the house for three decades and lives in Chelsea. This is a great turn of the century farm house! I allow one dog of a breed temperament similar to a labrador or golden retriever. The breed cannot be on the "at risk" list for insurance carriers. It can be an inside dog, if well behaved. I will NOT allow cats. I will need to approve the dog before signing a lease. There is a non-refundable pet deposit of $300, as well as a pet fee of $75/month. Any violations witnessed by the property manager with regard to pets will negate the lease. I bred labrador retrievers and trained Goldens and Labs for 13 years. I currently have a golden retriever and a gold adore (lab/golden mix). I love dogs and would like to have the right dog live in my house! The tenant pays for all utilities, snow removal and yard mowing. The property manager will arrange for grass mowing (tenant pays). If capable of properly maintaining a riding mower, tenant can use the one on the property and do the yard him/herself. The tenant will arrange for snow removal as needed. Tenant also pays for curbside trash pick up. No burning is allowed on the property. Landlord will pay for salt for water softener and property manager will put it in the softener on a monthly basis. Landlord will pay for all tree and bush trimming and landscaping needs. Tenant must purchase rental insurance and provide a copy at lease signing. No smoking or illegal drug use is permitted. This house is being leased unfurnished (except for the large appliances in the kitchen and laundry room). Lease length is negotiable. A lease lasting less than a year is $3500/month. A lease of 12 months or longer is $2780/month. I am willing to renew the lease or continue the lease on a month to month basis after the lease expires, if it has been a good fit and if it is not winter months. The goal is not to have the house empty in the winter, if possible. The lease rent may increase at the time the lease is re-negotiated, depending on how much the tenants have been able to take care of things on their own and inflation. Monthly rent money will be paid directly into the my bank account at Central Pacific Bank by the first day of each month. This should be set up on automatic payment. The first month's rent will be prorated and due with the deposit at the signing of the lease. Please message me your interest through Zillow and I will send you an application. There will be a video interview prior to viewing the house for qualified applicants. I am a retired professor, so am partial to the idea of renting to graduate students or young professionals who would enjoy living together.
