If you're bored by gray, beige, and greige walls, take a gander at this charming apartment, where every wall is a beautiful, calming blue. (Nope, you can't paint it another color. I like blue, and I don't want to have to paint it blue again if I move back in someday.) This 1,325-square-foot apartment features spacious, versatile rooms. You can decide how to use the space: living room + 2 bedrooms ... or living room + bedroom + dining room. There's also a bonus room that makes a great home office. And there's plenty of storage. This is a lovely space for someone who appreciates historic detail and charm. Built in 1901, it has original wood floors with the "character" that one would expect of 123-year-old floors; original five-panel doors, including pocket doors; functional transoms ... and some non-function transoms; original built-ins; a restored original medicine cabinet; other original woodwork; exposed brick; and a non-functional, non-original fireplace (but we have a great story about it). But it's not all old -- this apartment has been thoughtfully renovated. It has a newer HVAC system and water heater; updated electrical wiring and fixtures (no scary knob and tube!); energy-efficient windows; an updated bathroom; and an updated kitchen with 42" maple cabinets, quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances (including gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, range hood, and garbage disposal). There's even more storage space in the private basement, plus washer/dryer hookups. (Oh hey -- there's even a washer and dryer down there already that you may use!) Finally, there's an adorable back balcony, a backyard with room for a garden, and one off-street parking spot in back (along with plentiful street parking in front). This lovely historic building is walking distance from Soulard and Lafayette Square and convenient to Downtown and all interstates. This building is owned by real people, not a property management company, and this blue apartment was our home for many years. Now, we live just down the street, so we're quick to address any issues.
