Totally off-grid solar-powered country home in southern Colorado is very private, very rural, nestled in the shadow of Mount Blanca, in the Rocky Mountain foothills of the San Luis Valley. Located near the Mountain Home Lake and the Great Sand Dunes National Park, our cool summers and blue-sky sunny winters have earned us consistent rave (5-star) reviews as a vacation rental since 2015, appealing especially to quiet types (writers, photographers, nature-lovers) and also to very active folks (mountain climbers, hikers, bikers, fishermen), and people with independent or remote-sourced income (very fast WIFI). Perched on the west side of La Veta Pass, we're at 8,300 ft altitude, providing summer time relief from the heat. You'll be in easy driving distance to luxurious or natural hot springs and spas. and our winding country roads offer unique hiking and cross-country hiking and biking adventures. Escape those dull grey city skies and come stay in the Main Floor and Loft of EarthNest Cottage.… You'll have two bedrooms, a comfy living room with fireplace and library, awesome 400 sq ft dining area and art gallery surrounded by seven windows looking across the San Luis Valley. Your own kitchen is supplied with everything needed to start cooking, with spices, Keurig, micro, and nice new fridge and range. The bathroom's claw-foot tub gives you views of passing deer, and our water is sweet and tested pure. With vast views of the San Luis Valley from every window, this is rural privacy at its best, in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, with only the sweet sounds of nature to take away all stress. Our five secluded acres are part of the original Forbes Trinchera Ranch, so you can hike, bike, ski, or wander miles and miles of country roads surrounding the base of our fourteener, Mount Blanca. Starting July 6, 2026, everything is provided for monthly or six-month stays, so you can fix dinner the same day you arrive. We prefer a month-to-month lease, and a year-long lease is negotiable. July discount of 15% for a 2-month stay. Fast internet, laundry on site, lots of safe parking, and 5-star proven host! We do NOT have sidewalks or a basketball court!
