- a couple of well-rated independent pharmacies nearby on Forest Ave (Seaview Pharmacy and SkyCare Rx) if you'd rather skip the big chains both have great reviews and offer delivery
- lots of food options along Forest Ave, all a short drive away. A few favorites: Zara Forest Grill (Turkish/Mediterranean, 4.6 stars and a local standout), Rinconcito Paisa (Colombian bakery + restaurant, open early at 6am), and DOMINICAN FOOD CORP. (very affordable, generous portions)

Getting to Manhattan
- by car: roughly 18 miles and about 35 minutes to Lower/Midtown Manhattan in normal traffic (via the Goethals Bridge / NJ or the Verrazzano)
- by express bus (easiest car-free option): the SIM33 runs from this part of Mariners Harbor straight to Midtown Manhattan (Central Park South / 6th Ave) and the SIM34 goes to Lower Manhattan. The full ride is roughly 75 80 minutes, but you get a seat the whole way. The SIM33c also runs on off-peak hours and weekends.
- by ferry: take a local bus (S40 along Richmond Terrace) to the St. George Ferry Terminal, then the free Staten Island Ferry to Whitehall in Lower Manhattan, where you can connect to the subway. Plan on about 1.5 hours door-to-door, but the ferry ride itself is free and has great harbor views
