About the building

House for Human Flourishing in Central Phoenix Mountain Cove Howdy! My name is Ethan and I'm two months into creating a kind of "house for human flourishing" in the foothills of my favorite Phoenix mountains. It is wonderfully located a five minute walk from my favorite section of Phoenix Mountain Preserve and a five minute drive from Northern Ave's entrance to the 51 Freeway (read: centrally-located in Phoenix, yet, a kind of desert retreat tucked in a cove of mountains). As a long-term traveler, Phoenix real estate photographer, wellness enthusiast, and multi-medium creative, I've long envisioned an experimental co-living space here in the valley of the sun that promotes well-being biologically, habitually, creatively, naturally, and communally. A place that draws and supports people pursuing their deepest interests and potentials, whether that be creatively, athletically, academically, holistically, or you know, in whatever way most floats your boat. Two months into this co-living experiment, this currently includes things like: - Standing desks - Floor seating - Indoor plants - A library of remarkable books - No TV's (but a 10' pull down projector screen for occasional cinematic escape) - Yoga mats, stretch bands, foam roller, and massage gun - Hammock chairs - Musical instruments - Warm-amber lighting - Ample space to unwind - Meditation cushions - Storage for bikes and outdoor gear The interior of the 1,864sqft, 4-bed, 2-bath main house has largely come together. But the exterior is still a blank, dirt canvas for the most part. I've yet to begin exterior landscaping, converting the detached garage out back into a casita, and building the backyard into a kind of desert wellness oasis with sauna, cold plunge, and new large patio with gymnastic rings, workout equipment, and hang out space. I expect this will take the next 6-12 months to come about. There are two large, high-ceiling, beautifully-beamed bedrooms available for rent starting mid-August for $1000 per month all utilities included (as well as basics like paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, laundry detergent, and such). These two bedrooms share one bathroom (pictured). I live in the master bedroom with second bathroom attached. Kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, bowls, utensils, and fridge and cabinet space to store food. Washer and dryer are yours to use. A secondary front yard driveway and on street parking are available as well. I'm looking for two generally-clean-and-organized beings to rent each room. Fellows interested in relishing life, pursuing their potentials, value healthy-living, getting outdoors, and don't desire to be entertained by a television most nights. A bedroom is an empty, blank canvas for you to fill. The rest of the house is a curated space to be used to your heart's content, but mindfully curated by yours truly as an ongoing experiment in building "a house for human flourishing." Interested? "Request to Apply" through Zillow and I'll send you a link to a deep, short, different-sort of application.
