This historic house in the beautiful legacy town of Walnut Grove, is just 15 miles from Elk Grove, 30 minutes down the Sacramento River from… Sacramento. It was built in the 1870's, by Fred Wickers, the town's original butcher, and has easy access to the Sacramento River and Georgiana Slough. In short, the place is a step back in time, and a BLAST! It is the perfect spot for a person with an appreciation of Mark Twain's "Life on the Mississippi", except it's Life on the Sacramento River but in the San Francisco Bay Delta! This designated "California Legacy Town" offers a small-town Delta community, within a 30-minute drive of our state capital, Sacramento. The town is on the National Registry of Historic Places, and the entire Delta has been designated by our U.S. Congress as a National Heritage Area, the first in California! It is perfect for 1-2 tenants. It is a one to five minute walk to: F&M Bank, hardware store, grocery store, Post Office, Library with free wi-fi, ice cream parlor, restaurants, Tony's bar, public dock, bakery, shops, gas station, etc. The historic Chinese-built town of Locke is one mile up the river, with the iconic "Al's Place". The house offers: Front porch and back porch redwood decking Beautiful, original hardwood floors throughout Historic crown moldings Free-standing wood-burning fireplace. Small bedroom that can accommodate a queen sized bed, not king Tiny closet with a wood armoire in the bedroom Small bathroom with shower stall only Good sized kitchen with Granite counters and new refrigerator Electric oven and Stove Top Washer and Dryer Two AC units Two wall mounted heaters Completely private, good sized fenced backyard (currently all dirt - ready for planting!)
