Come tour our completely furnished executive-style home (with a pool and hot tub) located on 1.5 acres of landscaped paradise at the end of a quiet, dead-end private road in a private neighborhood in sought after Kailua Town. The lease length is negotiable, and can be as short term as 90 days.
The neighborhood feels completely secluded, but it is only a two-block walk to Kailua Town. The city bus stops conveniently at the end of our private lane.
The property is fully landscaped and fenced, except for the parking area. The land actually goes down beyond the landscaped yard to a tropical area with a stream. This is accessible through a gate which stays locked.
There are papaya, orange, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, mango and avocado trees on the property.
I am seeking a quiet professional, professional couple or two adult friends wishing to work locally or remotely. It would be a terrific place for a couple who is in transition to, or from, Hawaii. The Kaneohe Marine Base is nearby, so this would also work well for officers or retired officers in the process of moving in or out of Hawaii. The United Kingdom's military rented it for three years for their visiting officers.
It also works well for corporate housing of one or two people.
I had been hoping to do a vacation rental (since I would be able to assure quiet for my neighbors as I am often living on site) but new laws require a minimum 90 day lease. The lease could be renewable for the right tenants.
This is the perfect place to enjoy a taste of the Hawaiian countryside with two of the best beaches in the world (Kailua and Lanikai) 1.9 miles away. It is fun to walk or bike to the beach for most healthy adults.
The property is zoned "country". The house can be open air. It has huge picture windows, sliding glass doors with screens that open the house up to the outdoors and doors that open to the outside from every room!
Neighbors cannot see in, so windows are left uncovered, except in the bedrooms. This way you enjoy the tropical paradise from every room. The house has bedroom air-conditioners, which have rarely been used as the breeze and fans create a tropical atmosphere with comfortable natural temperature, year round.
This is the place to be if you like close access to town but true country living. The roosters may wake you up in the morning. We do have a pest control service provided free of charge, lol!
In addition to enjoying country living (yes, we have tropical bugs, but the pest control service is quite good), you will also want to be a dog lover, as I will have two with me when I am in residence (which lately has been rarely). I own a nursery and garden center and live there most of the time.
My dogs (a 4 year old black lab and a 6 month old Golden Retriever) would not enter your private yard (unless you leave the gate open, lol), but would share the common space behind your fence. And, yes, they will probably bark when they see you because they want to entice you to play, lol! You may play or ignore them. This behavior will cease if you are not a dog person, as they know pretty much immediately. Somehow, they instinctively know who wants to say hi (and play) and who doesn't. This being said, we have rarely been there the past two years. However, I would like to be there more often. Trying to retire, lol!
The home is completely furnished, including beach towels, and has recreational equipment for body boarding, surfing, snorkeling and back yard games. There may be a couple of bikes in our storage closet . Kailua has AWESOME beaches and hiking, all within walking and biking distance from the house. We even have a hilltop trail hike in our neighborhood.
The original home has been divided and my adult (middle aged) daughter and one of her adult sons live in the adjoining quarters on the other side of the house.
We share the large part of the yard, courtyard and the solar heated pool and hot tub with you. My family likes to gather there at times to swim and cookout. They would not have a large party without inviting you or warning you in advance. We would like the same courtesy.
The property has security cameras in the front and back of the house but, truthfully, no one knows this private road even exists. It does not even have a name!

While I prefer a 3 to 6 month lease, I am flexible for the right person. A single professional in transition has worked out well in this space. I can schedule a showing anytime after your application has been accepted. Please respond here to tell me about yourself and your housing needs. In your message, ask me to send you an application. I am happy to speak with you over the phone any day after noon HST, if you would like to do that prior to sending your application. Please do not hesitate to call me. The length of this lease is negotiable. Current law states the minimum lease for this property is 90 days. If the lease is less than 183 days, the rent amount will be raised to cover the TAT (Transient Accomodation Tax) to be terminated at the time of lease signing. Tenant will also be charged to cover the GET tax. (So awesome to live in Hawaii with the Price of Paradise, lol!). My adult daughter and one adult grandson live on the other side of this house. I maintain a residence in a separate suite. This house is completely furnished! All you need are your personals. You will literally find everything you will need in the drawers, cupboards and closets. The tenant pays half the electricity, so it varies each month, unless I decide to do a flat fee before the next tenant moves in. All other utilities and services are paid by the landlord, including: water, sewer, parking, landline phone, internet, pest control, yard service and pool service. I have a no pet policy because my dogs are with me when I am in residence elsewhere on the property. There is no smoking and no illegal drugs. Our neighborhood association quiet hours begin at 10 pm. No loud parties are allowed. The larger yard and courtyard, with pool, are shared space (with me and my family). You may have guests. Overnight guests must be approved in advance and are limited to a few nights. This is not meant to be a house where your friends can vacation. Exceptions, with approval, are allowed for immediate family and close friends. Tenants have their own smaller fenced private back yard space with a covered lanai, as well as the larger shared yard. The lease is negotiable with the minimum being 90 days (which is the shortest lease available under Hawaii regulations for this zoning). Month to month is possible after this 90 day lease expires, if all goes well. A long term is also possible for the right tenants. On site parking and laundry is available at no charge.
