We are so train friendly that we have a train depots, bed and breakfasts, bathrooms, restaurants, etc. Although the town council is currently working on "Quiet Zones", the Federal law requires trains to blow their whistles when approaching intersections one of which goes through our downtown are (which is typical in most small towns).. The walls are plaster which help insulate the sound. We have ear plugs and air purifiers for the light sleepers. Native Chestertonians do not hear the whistles, but, some light sleepers, may. The house is located within steps of downtown and occasionally, at night, a train comes through but mostly through out the day time. Our hope is that you will come to love our trains as much as we do in Chesterton.
