A relatively quiet neighborhood comprised of young professionals, families, retirees, a healthy variety of ethnic backgrounds, and all the necessities one could need, Edgewater/Edgewater Beach is a great area of Chicago in which to reside. While 40 mins. north of the Loop via public transit, the area is serviced by both the Red Line and #147 express bus to downtown Chicago; and downtown Evanston is but a 15 min. CTA trip north.

As a 6' 200 lbs male, I feel safe. There are a fair amount of people with mental health problems in the neighborhood but the area continues to gentrify. Plenty of restaurants, theaters, good public transportation and close to the lake.
