DO NOT lease with this apartment. It might look good on the inside and outside, but I promise you they are basically SCAMMING you. To give you a little detail...
- Someone broke into my car (in their secure parking garage that has a coded garage door) and only new tenants cars were broken into and apparently this is a yearly occurance (according to tenants that had lived there for 5 years+). Also, I asked for security footage and they said they would release it, once I filed a police report. So I filed and asked the complex again, and they claimed to have ‘lost’ the footage...
- The paint job in the units are horrendous. They painted on the paint so thick when I closed my bathroom door and opened again, the paint was transferred on the door. You could easily make an imprint with your finger.
- The 7 ft shelf in my closet fell off of the wall when there was barely anything hanging on it. They told me that I would have to pay for damages. Keep in mind I was on vacation for 1 month meaning I wasn’t even home and came home to a collapsed shelf and drywall everywhere.
- Packages were stolen constantly from the lobby because the door was never securely closed. Maintenance said they would replace it but it had been 3 months after I moved in and still nothing was changed.
- Washers and Dryers were coin laundry and during a coin shortage most of us were unable to do our laundry. I had to wash my clothes in my tub for 4 weeks because they wouldn’t replace the appliances and I couldn’t find any quarters
- Any maintenance requests will take FOREVER to be fulfilled. I placed a request once and they stated they came into my apartment to fix the issue and I came home from work with the issue never even resolved. They didn’t even go into my apartment, they just marked the request as ‘resolved’. I followed up about the issue and they never did anything about it.
- Utilities are WACK!! To give you insight, it doesn’t matter how frugal you are, your bill will be insane!! They add up all the utilities among the entire complex and divide it to each tenant to pay. I was gone for 1 month and came back to a $300 utility bill... later I found out, that some tenants are grandfathered in, meaning their utilities are included in their rent and they pay a flat rate. While most have constant fluctuation in bill. One month I had a $30 utility bill and the next month it was $300; no exaggeration. I was so confused..
- When I moved out, I never received ANY instructions for move out and so I placed the keys to the apartment on my counter. A few days later I received a phone call stating they never received them and they would fine me $350. Thankfully I was able to provide proof that I was never given instructions and they did not fine me, but it was a 8 hour issue that required me to gather information from the Lease and 30-day notice to show I had no instructions for move out precautions.
- When I put in my 30 day notice, they continued to charge me rent because apparently it was my responsibility to remove my card on file. I was never warned about this and 2 months later received my refund (after constant calling)
- 2 months after I moved out, I receive a call asking if I have the key fob to the apartment and if I want a new one. I was so confused as I communicated with them that I moved out of the complex awhile ago. They just never communicated with anyone in management so my file wasn’t marked as ‘moved out’.
Overall, the tenants, were amazing!! But it was the management that I had the issue with. It didn’t feel as secure as they promised which wasn’t good as it’s located right in Hollywood Blvd.
So, regardless of what you decide, I think it’s important people are aware of the TRUTH before moving at this apartment. I never knew any of this UNTIL I moved in and signed everything.
