We have a room available here in this beautiful 2 bedroom ADU right in the heart of the Woodlawn neighborhood in NE Portland. I am moving out, so my wonderful roommate needs someone to move in by July 1 (or later if needed). You would be taking over my lease that goes through the end of December with an option to extend.
To tell you a little about the house, it is a newly constructed ADU, two stories, about 800 square feet, give or take, tucked away on a cozy street corner just a few blocks up from Ps & Qs market and all of the other Woodlawn goodies. The home is a beautiful labor of love built by the owner with strong attention to quality and detail. The french doors, high ceilings, big windows, and quaint patio are really making this place hard for me to leave. This is a 2 bed / /1.5 Bath unit with a washer, dryer, and dishwasher. The owners of the property live right next door and they are just as wonderful ~ very easy going, kind, and flexible. Perfect landlords, if you ask me.
The ideal new roommate is someone who is who is female, low-key, respectful, and knows how to keep a place nice and clean. My current roommate (whom you'll live with) is 29/F and a home organizer, so things stay pretty sharp around here (although not in a weird, obsessive sort of way, just in a courteous, communal, keep-the-sugar-ants-at-bay kind of way). She is also a dynamic entrepreneur with her eyes on an MBA to facilitate her work in the zero-waste industry and many other business ideas. She is a creative and introverted soul who is kind, intelligent, and very mindful. We met at a Vipassana meditation center, so this is an important part of her life as well. Ideally, you are someone who shares similar interests, but the most important thing is that you are a kind, honest, mature, and loving person who can be as comfortable sharing silence as you are with meaningful conversation. She is one of the best roommates I've ever had so it's very hard to go!
There isn't much room as far as large storage space goes, so this place will be good if you live lightly. We've kept a no-tv household (of course, if you watch on your own device that's totally fine), and would prefer to keep it that way. No cats per landlord's request. Other pets will probably need to get the green light from the landlord, but should be fine. There is a garden bed for you to use or care for.
Rent is $900 each with a $1250 security deposit (and this can be paid incrementally). We pay utilities (electric (~$50), water (~$50), internet ($21)), which average out to about $120/month. We generally split the cost of shared household items (i.e. cleaners here and there, sponges, dish soap, TP).
I'll do the first round of vetting. If I think this could be a good fit, I'll connect you with my roommate for the two of you to set a time to meet and see the house.
If this sounds like a good fit, please get in touch with a little about yourself and why you think this could be a good fit. Links to any social media or public profiles are always appreciated.
We look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!
