We are subletting our 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment downtown. We can start the lease any time between July 20 and August 1. It's a great location! Less than 2 blocks away from over 4 different bus stops, a quick 5 minute walk to a few great restaurants and bars on Gilbert St(The Vine, Mosleys, Sanctuary, etc.), and a quick bus ride or walk to the rest of downtown and campus. It's got a great layout and definitely feels larger than it is. The kitchen and living room are one large open space separated by carpet and tile. There's a big picture window that lets in a lot of natural light. There's a brand new microwave and it's got a great little dishwasher and a handy garbage disposal. The unit comes with one off street parking lot. The lot also has four guest spots that tenants and guests are allowed to use. (You really can't beat off street parking for this price so close to downtown.) The laundry room is two doors down from this unit and costs $2 a load. ($1.25 to wash and $.75 to dry. I'm pretty sure that's one of the--if not the--cheapest coin laundry gets in Iowa City. The bathroom is huge and handicapped accessible. Two people can easily get ready at the same time and have plenty of room to maneuver. There's even enough space to keep your laundry basket there. Plus there is a lot of storage space under the sink. There are two hallways closets. One is your standard coat closet, but the second one is all shelves. It's great storage space that not a lot of apartments have. It's one of the things that makes me love the place. There is central air and heat. We are heathens and kept the temperature at 75 degrees all winter and never paid more than $80. The average seems to be about $60. Garbage is paid for by the landlord and there's a dumpster behind the building. You also pay for water and that tends to run us about $30 a month. Other than $950 in rent, that's all the apartment related bills we have. We're looking for someone to begin the lease any time between mid July and August 1. They would be talking over our least. (We originally renewed our lease, but ultimately decided we needed a place closer to where we work.) Rent is $950 and there would be a required $950 deposit. If you are interested in the property, you would need to fill out an application and send it to the landlord to be approved.
