This 3/2 Bungalow is tucked into one of the safest areas of Detroit, just north of Grosse Pointe. It's located less than a mile from the nearest pharmacy and grocery store, a half-mile from the local high school and Dollar Store (and a good number of other businesses on E Warren!), and a mere block from the neighborhood playground.
The kitchen is smart -- both in looks and in layout. Layering light cabinetry over dark, swirly-green walls and countertops make the space feel vivid and rich. A big dual-bowl cast-iron sink is the center of the space, with fridge and stove to one side and the dining room to the other. There's counterspace on both sides of the room, so this can be a two-person kitchen if that's how you roll, and the entire room is open to the dining room for easy conversations with guests or family while you cook.
In the bathroom, dramatic white-on-blue is the order of the day, with tile tub surround, wainscot, and flooring making the whole place virtually splashproof. A full-sized vanity and built-in soap and toothbrush holders ensure you've got places to keep your stuff out of harm's way. Above the wainscoting, most of the wall is mirrored, making it easy to get your face on for a day of work or a night on the town. (The second bathroom is in the basement, which you can read about below.)
The living room is warm and inviting with honey-stained hardwood flooring, an oversized picture window letting in a ton of light. The dining room and back hall can be reached from here.
Speaking of the dining room, it's a neat 'between space' that combines the kitchen's tile floor with the living room's white walls, and tops it off with a sweet retro Masters-of-the-Universe status chandelier.
Both downstairs bedrooms are quite similar, each featuring dcor similar to the living room: hardwood floors, a swinging-door closet, and a ceiling fan to keep the air moving. Upstairs, the Bungalow bedroom stands out with knotty pine tongue-in-groove paneling. It offers a goodly number of features, including shelves, drawers, under-eaves storage, and a reach-in closet.
Downstairs, the basement is divided into three spaces: a large main area that houses the furnace, water heater, W/D hookups, and utility sink; a small side room that is empty; and the second bathroom. That bathroom is surprisingly large, with a pedestal sink, medicine cabinet mirror, and a circular shower enclosure with a glass door.
Outside, the front yard is flat and grassy, with a few bushes for dcor. The backyard is mostly dirt -- no maintenance required! -- with a 1.5 car detached garage hanging out back there, too.
