The space is excellent for cooking for friends, hosting dinner parties. Read/study while overlooking/hearing the street activity on Morris Ave. I cook for roommates and friends and clients about 2 to 3 times per week, and roommates are always invited.
It's a beautiful space - a place where you can spend hours without having to feel the need to leave. I enjoy design and architecture, and have built the space out over the last few years.
The unit gets a ton of light because the windows are south facing, which means you get most light as possible, all day long. It gets especially good light in the mornings, and 3 skylights in the upstairs area give natural light into the upstairs bedrooms and the stairwell.
Open. I've knocked down some of the walls in the unit to open up the space even more.
Friends. The kitchen and dining area are designed for hosting. I've hosted many a dinners over here, up to 20 people (even 25 one time). The stove top is designed to converse with friends while you are able to pull food out of the oven, or while cooking on the stove top. The oven has a built in thermometer, that tells you when your meat is done.
Reading/Relaxing. The living area is designed around natural light, bookshelfs, antiqued oak wood and doors, that allows for a warm environment that helps settle into a book, a newspaper, or a magazine.
The town: The place is 2 blocks from Carrigans, 3 blocks from Urban Standard/El Barrio/Bamboo, 4 blocks from Trattoria Central, 7 blocks from Publix, 9 blocks from Railroad Park.
This listing is cheaper than the average room for rent in Birmingham by $156.
