the house I want has a lien!Can I still buy the house with NO worries?

We really want to buy this house, but my realtor told me there is a lien.So my question is what if the owner doesn't want to pay it or if he doesn't know there is a lien.Can we buy this house without worrying about this lien? Can we buy the house then the money go straight to the person/business that put the lien on the house?Someone help please!!

If the purchase price is more than the lien, the lien would need to be paid at closing to clear it. There is a great attorney in San Antonio that is a nationwide attorney. His name is Mark Torok with the Torok Law Firm. Give him a call for assistance in this

It depends on the type of lien. An unpaid mechanic's lien stays with the property. State and federal tax liens can be negotiated with the state or feds; however, a federal tax lien most likely will have to be paid by either the seller or buyer before the house will close. A mortgage is also considered a lien. Any of the above are also considered "clouds" on the title of the property.
