My husband, my son, and myself have been living in a rented home since December. We have a one year lease. He recently told us that it will be forclosed on.

We have paid for all of the remodeling and have done all of the necessary repairs. The house was almost unlivable when we moved in. And although he said he would help us, he has not. Recently more things have gone wrong, i.e electric problems, furnace, etc. And he refuses to help. Should we still pay him rent? Could we just put it in escrow? Could we break our lease because of this? We pay $550 a month rent. Moved in in Dec. 09. Payed for all of the remodeling to make the home livable. Also did all the labor. When our landlord told us he would do it or help us. Also never took any of it off of our rent.
