My newlandlord gave me the option of signing a 1 year lease or a 2 year lease with the same rent for both years. Naturally, I assume that there will be a raise in rent if I do the 1 year lease and want to renew, so it would make sense for me to do the 2 year lease I suppose.
However, I work for a tech company and, while we're doing great now, it just scares me to commit to something for 2 years. What should I do?
A lot can change in two years, really, with both your professional and residential preferences. You may really enjoy your job now but something else might turn up that you'd really like to pursue, and leases are one of the few ironclad agreements out there that you wouldn't be worth your money to break. But also, if you're new to the area, you might find that you'd rather live in another neighborhood of SF. I would check around at Nabewise (Nabewise.com) to see if your chosen nabe is actually an area that suits your lifestyle and budget costs!
Should I sign a 2 year lease?
