We rent a house that has a bathroom that leaks to the kitchen below. We were told by property manager that it's too expensive to fix, so live with it or move out. I have fallen several times...what do we do?
I think property manager doesn't care if we move out because then they can get the commission for the newtenants. Should we just move out?
There are a few things you can do. you can call your local court and ask to put your rent into an escrow account until the issue is fixed they will withhold the rent from the landlord. Also you can sue them stating how they breached the lease on the damages to the place and them not fixing it. http://www.ehow.com/how_6136_sue-landlord-resolve.... This link should help you on figuring out how to do this on your own filing fees threw a court are not that high and as long as you have proof you should be ok. Make sure to take pictures and if you fall and get hurt go to the hospital and get documentation. Also something that might help you look up your local home associations on renters the address to that one is http://www.caanet.org/ I hope this informationhelps you.
Thank you...My son fell this time so we have decided to move and avoid all of the hassels. Now that we have given our notice...the plumber is coming to give them a quote to fix. Oh well.
