Hello, Ms Brown, this is Red over here in Los Angeles. I'm a New Yorker by birth and grew up there. I would like for you to make a list of all your concerns and then start asking questions about the neighborhood and it's surroundings. There are many community based organizations that can help you with what every concerns you have. You may be steered to some websites so you can have a better understanding. And yes it's "def a new experience"you have stated that very well. As long as you are guiding your children, you should be just fine. Remember, New York is a fast paced city so be one your toes...lol

Take a moment to consider your childs age, look into the stats for all areas, schools and such. Red is dead on the mark when she says make a list and look into community based organizations. Every neighborhood has it's pro's and con's no matter what the "perception" or "average rent" is.
