Well, if you want to keep your commute quick, check out condo rentals in Reston and Herndon! Both have beautiful wooded surroundings, bike trails, lakes, great places to eat and hang out. For a longer, and often times unpleasant commute, Arlington also offers tons of things that should match the way you describe your lifestyle. Just get some good books on tape for that commute!

I worked for Accenture for 10 years in Reston...do you know what client you will be working on or are you the office support staff? If you are going to be a consultant find out if you know where your project will be. Odds are you won't actually go to Reston for anything but orientation and when you have to take your laptop in for an upgrade/fix. Most clients are in Alexandria, Arlington, DC and Maryland area.

There are a lot of great communities in the area! I was a consultant, prior to becoming a real estate broker, and the advice to find out where you will be working is very sound. It may be more important to be close to Dulles or Reagan National than the office--depending on which clients you will be seeing regularly.
