my landlord sold the house that i am renting from him and said that we had to be out by the 20th of this month not giving me enough time to find an other place to rent.

Is your lease up? That's a horrible situation, but if your lease is expired, it's not your landlord's responsibility to remind you that you should talk about whether you want to rent again or not. When you didn't bring it up to him, he probably assumed you didn't want to be there anymore. I think he just had to make a decision, and business being business, he rented it out to someone who wanted it.

If your lease is not up, and you're just being evicted, you're still supposed to have 30 days notice, by law (at least that's how it is where I live!)

I hope everything works out for you!

Your lease is good no matter who owns the property. The new owner must go accept the terms of the lease and abide by the contract. If you lease is up, then you will default to a month to month contract, and they have to give you 60 days notice. You need to quickly educate yourself with your state laws and make sure that both partys abide by your states staues and laws.

You need to check the Landlord and Tenant rights for your state. This sounds like you are being treated unfairly. Most states require a reasonable time frame if a landlord is forcing you to move out. Do a search online, or consult a real estate attorney. Good Luck

My landlord told me his wife's out of country need my apartment. I have nothing in writing and he still has not given me a date. I am on Soc. Sec. Disabilty, very low income, and no money for a deposit, first months rent, or a realtor, not to mention a mover. I am 57 yrs old with emphysema. I don't have a lease, it's month to month. Yes I know I am suppose to have 30 days notice....but shouldn't it be in writing??
