Military question-- My husband is in the navy, stationed in San Diego. This was a change of plans at the last minute from Norfolk...
Hello, I'm new to this forum and to being a navy wife! Basically, my husband's orders just got changed and we are moving instead to San Diego (yay!). However, as I've learned quickly, we cannot commit to a year long lease because I don't konw when he might be transfered or even deployed. Do we have to get a month to monthlease, or is it legal for us to break a year long lease if his orders change? Thanks!
If your husband receives PCS orders or is deployed, he will have to show his orders and make the request in writing in order to not incur any penalty for breaking the lease.
It is best, though, to write in a military clause into your lease to prevent any headaches down the road. I'm sure the places you look at in San Diego will be both familiar of and used to military clauses.
Hi Samantha, I am also a Navy Wife and actually have the same first name as you, Samantha. :) I'm from San Diego and my aunt is looking to put my grandparents' former home on the rentalmarket soon. It is in Pacific Beach in case you're interested. SZL
i read your post if your aunt hasn't already rented it i would be interested. my name is wendy and my husband is deployed right now, it would just be myself and 9 year old daughter. my # is 910 920 6281
The complex I live in has a militarylease so if you sign a year lease, you are able to get out of it if you can prove that you bought a house or have orders somewhere else.
You are more than welcome to come and rent with us at Rentgoldenhill.com You may sign a one year lease that honors deployment or relocation orders. -Janice Reynoso (619)972-2091
Hello there, I am a military wife also. We will be transferring to San Diego next year by summer. My husband will be station in San Diego Naval base but sea duty most of the time he will be away deploy. I am looking for a house with 3 bedroom close to a high school like the Scripp school. My budget is not more than $1,900. Pleasehelp!
I have a couple of rentals in San Diego. I don't think I have what you want, and if I did, it might not be available. I advertise at a great site sponsored by DOD, called AFRN.com. The site is only available to military members and is very easy to search for properties. I highly recommend that you check it out, good maps, lots of pictures, good descriptions, mileage to work, etc. Much better than craigslist. Tell you friends about it too. Also besides hotpads.com, try rent.com, which is not quite as good. Good luck. Ross
Try padmapper.com and ahrn.com and homecircle.com and forrent.com. AHRN and homecircle are military sites. My boyfriend is navy and our lease is about to be up, so I've been looking like crazy for a place we can afford that will fit our family. Most places already have a military clause, and if not you can write one in. All you have to do is show your orders to the management or landlord and you can break your lease with no consequences, and even get your deposit back. My best friend's husband is army and she signed a year lease because it was the best deal and she had no clue if it'd be a month or several years. My bf is stationed at coronado and my email is greeneyedmexicowgirl@yahoo.com if you want to talk, it can be really hard moving somewhere new and not knowing anyone. I'm an ex army brat and moved around a ton after I moved out, then got together with my boyfriend.
