I were going to be away for 4 month, so I let a family, friends of mine, stay at my rented apartment while I was oversea ...

they were going to look for an apartment to move in as soon as I came back; now that I'm back, I found out that all 3 bedrooms of my apartment are occupied, my "friend", her husband and their 13 years old son stay in one bedroom while the other 2 bedrooms are rented to people who I don't even know, they put all my staff in the living room, now my electric and cable bills are at my "friend" name, she told me that since they are living here for the past 4 months, they want me out, that they're going to talk to the owner to ask him for my apartment: " We're the ones living here for the past 4 months and paying the bills, we want this apartment, would you please lease this apartment to us?", this is what they're going to say to my landlord, can you imagine? All this is driving me crazy; at least I've learned so much from such a bad experience! Pleas tell me what can I do !!!!! Should I take them to court?, should I stay in my living room until they just give up and leave?, what can I do? =(

If there is no contract between you and them, and your name is on the lease, look into having them removed as squatters.

Hi Louis,

Did you have them sign any sort of subletting lease? Has the name on the lease changed from your name to their name?

Hi Colleen,

No, I didn't have them sign anything; only my name is on the lease, it hasn't changed.
