does a owner/landlord have to tell you why your application was denied? We did not use a realtor when we applied & their realtor only told us we were denied & the owner did not tell her why. It was...

very stand-offish.. is there sanything we can do for answers?

I don't know about Chicago, but the answer is typically no. An owner can reserve the right to rent to whomever he or she wants. There are strict laws that restrict what the landlord can place in his or her advertisements, however, but telling you why they made a decision isn't something they have to do.

So if we feel we were discriminated we can't do anything about it? I thought there were laws protecting rentors from that so there's equal housing foe everyone?
