im not familiar with the different areas of austin. since i am moving there next month i need a little help
i would like to be within walking distance of the greenbelt and still be in a central location. i havent spoken to a locator yet though because im still not sure where would be best area for me. could someone help me out
The main entrances to the park that I know of are only accessible from highways, but there are a few small neighborhood entrances throughout. However, the park is generally surrounded by steep cliffs, so just because a property backs up to the greenbelt doesn't always mean you have access.
That being said, I would recommend living in the small area in between Mo Pac (loop 1) and the greenbelt, just north of loop 360. Here's a link:
This is an excellent area which offers good access to downtown and is close to the greenbelt. On the HotPadsMap, look for dotted red lines leading in to the green area - those indicate entrances. Here's a sample listing that is very close to one of the smaller neighborhood entrances:
If you decide to look in to one of these listings, be sure to ask the landlord about access to the greenbelt - they may know a few secrets; also, be sure to verify that any entrances actually exist and are not closed.
I would love to help you with your home search. You can search the Abor MLS on my website, www.theleadersrealty.com. Please email me at kristee@theleadersrealty.com or call me at 512-695-5144 to discuss your home search. I would need to talk to you more about your price range and criteria to tell you which areas are best for you.
Parks and greenbelts abound in Austin. There are many, many areas and neighborhoods that may suit your needs. Also, when you say 'central', do you mean close to downtown? How close? Austin is not a huge city, and there are many areas that have access to beautiful parks and trails that are within a 15-20 minute drive to the heart of the city that are MUCH less expensive than living around Zilker or the Barton Creek Greenbelt.
If you would care to discuss this further, give me a call or send me an email and we can help you find the besthome that fits your needs and your budget.
