What's the next best neighborhood in Washington, DC to buy?
I can't afford to buy in any of the already establishedly awesome neighborhoods in DC, which leads to the question of: What's the next cool neighborhood in Washington, DC?
I feel like it used to be Adams Morgan, then recently U Street and Columbia Heights have been the up and comers. I've heard about "NoMa" but don't even know where that is and "Galaxy" or something in NE?
What's the next neighborhood that's going to become popular (and have a good resale value in a few years) that would make a good place to buy right now?
NoMa is a rebranding of the area "North of Massachusettes Ave," above the Capitol and around Union Station.
The H Street cooridor in NE is taking off and is called "The Atlas neighborhood" (which I think is what you are refering to as Galaxay). This area has had a lot of great businesses, bars, and nightspots move in and is offering an alternative to the Adams Morgan bar district.
The Anacostia/Southeast Waterfront is undergoing a massive transformation and really becoming quite beautiful and a place to look at.
Finally, Penn Quarter has become a really great place to live. This is located north of Pennsylvania Ave between 5th and 9th streets, around the Verizon center, just below China Town.

I was really impressed by how close it was to U Street and Adams Morgan, and how many restaurants and stores (Target!) were in Columbia Heights itself
