After 27 years of east coast life, I feel like checking out the left side of the country. But where...
There are a couple of cities that are sticking out in my mind, but for no good reason other than they seem pretty cool:Seattle
San Francisco
San Diego
I have no job prospects in any of them, I just want a change of scene and will figure it out when I get there.
Which one would you pick if you were me?

Some questions to ponder:
Are you looking for the ocean with constant perfect temperatures?
Do you want to live in a "city" city?
Do you want mountains and trails?
What industry are you going to be looking for a job in?
If I were you, I'd go spend a year in San Diego, then head up to San Francisco for a few years, before ultimately checking out Portland and Seattle. Or maybe go to San Francisco first then Seattle then regroup in San Diego. Or maybe I'd visit Seattle and see if I wanted to live there... oh, I see your dilemma :)

I've also lived near San Francisco and loved it too, but it's a completely different scene. San Francisco would probably be a good transition from the East Coast, but NorCal and SoCal are completely different.
