San Francisco and San Diego are two of my favorite cities in the entire country. I've never been to Seattle, but have only heard wonderful things about it. As a fellow East Coaster, the lure to the West has always been strong, but these 3 cities you have selected are pretty vastly different from each other.

Some questions to ponder:
Are you looking for the ocean with constant perfect temperatures?
Do you want to live in a "city" city?
Do you want mountains and trails?
What industry are you going to be looking for a job in?

If I were you, I'd go spend a year in San Diego, then head up to San Francisco for a few years, before ultimately checking out Portland and Seattle. Or maybe go to San Francisco first then Seattle then regroup in San Diego. Or maybe I'd visit Seattle and see if I wanted to live there... oh, I see your dilemma :)

San Diego!! The weather is perfect every day of the year, the people are so friendly, and it's the perfect place to unwind and get your mind straight.

I've also lived near San Francisco and loved it too, but it's a completely different scene. San Francisco would probably be a good transition from the East Coast, but NorCal and SoCal are completely different.

Truth or Consequences NM. Charles Branson Is building the first private space port there, The Hot Springs motorplex is very promising. I could go on and on about the dynamics of the town. It has wonderful mineral springs and spas as well as the lake. Stop by Sierra del Rio country club for a great meal and round of golf. The states largest ballon show. The Gila was the first wilderness area protected my the government. I lived there for 9 years and I was on vacation every day. Great arts community, Talk to Sid of Sea Properties LTD, good guy with excellent taste.
